Ring tailed lemur

Description

Three 3 ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) playing in the sun. This pictures was made Beekse Bergen zoo.

Ring-tailed lemurs are primates found only on the island of Madagascar. They are known for their unique striped tails, which are longer than their bodies and used for communication and balance. They have gray fur on their bodies, white faces with black patches around their eyes, and long, pointed ears. Ring-tailed lemurs are social animals and live in groups called troops, which can have up to 30 individuals. They are herbivores and primarily eat fruits and leaves. Unfortunately, they are considered endangered due to habitat loss and hunting. Conservation efforts are in place to protect these charismatic primates and their habitats.
